Newbie question:  add an exchange mailbox to an existing outlook user
I inherited a small network with exchange server. I have very little exchange experience. I created a mailbox and now I want to have that mailbox show up in an existing outlook usere's outlook. I've looked at it from the Exchange System Manager and the Outlook side and I can't figure it out.Thanks.

Hello John,Whenever you create any new mailbox in exchange it will automatically show up in Address book if RUS correctly stamped on that user. Here are the few things you can do to ensure they are showing correctly in outlook.1) goto the user property in ADUC and check for the email tab on exchange server and confirm you do see email address out there?2) You able to see that newly created user in GAL if you use OWA?3) How about running outlook in online mode? - If in online mode if you able to see that newly created user and in OWA as well then you have OAB issue and you.Do confirm and let me know.Arun Kumar | MCSE - 2K3 + Messaging | ITIL-F V3

Thanks.I'm sorry to admit my ignorance. What is RUS, ADUC, GAL, and OWA?I did create a rule in my outlook that was intended to send messages from the new mailbox to a folder in my outlook. So far messages are not being moved to my outlook.

Hi,First please ensure that email flowing normally. Please try to understand that when we create a account in Active DirectoryUsers andComputers, we can enable mailbox on it. After that we need to configure Microsoft Exchange Account in outlook or just use Outlook Web Access to access user mailbox. You can follow the article below to configure Microsoft Exchange Account in outlook.Outlook e-mail profiles explainedhttp://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA011471581033.aspxAdd a Microsoft Exchange accounthttp://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA012316341033.aspx#2More information to share with you:RUS-Receipt Update Service ,ADUC-Active DirectoryUsers andComputers, GAL-global address list, OWA-outlook web accessMicrosoft Exchange Server 2003http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123872(EXCHG.65).aspxRegards,Xiu

I finally figured out I had to change the delivery options in Active Directory. I thought it would have been a function of Exchange Server Managment MSC. D'OH!
